3:01 pm
for hillary clinton and donald trump to face each other one-on-one for the very first time. >> and as hofstra prepares for monday night, mrs. clinton is following suit. the democratic nominee staying off the campaign trail this weekend, for what we're told is a final cramming session for that debate. donald trump continues to stump on the campaign, he's in roanoke as we said for that rally we'll bring you in a moment. and mrs. trump and mrs. clinton will be meeting with israeli president benjamin netanyahu. but first we go to peter at the rally site. >> reporter: expect quite a day on the campaign trail, because the clinton campaign, as it turns out, thought they would try to throw donald trump off by giving him a ticket to monday's night debate to a big-time critic, mark cuban. that may have backfired because
3:02 pm
it gave trump an excuse to say that he may toss a ticket that his campaign has to jennifer flowers. a woman who says she was bill clinton's mistress for ten years while bill clinton was married to hillary clinton. so trump now writes, dopey mark cuban of failed benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps i will put jennifer flowers right next to him. we have tried reach oging out to ms. flowers to see if an invitation has been extended. a source told us yesterday, they said they thought secretary clinton gets thrown off by moderator questions, so just the mention of that in a tweet may throw her off on monday night. he says he plans to get a feel for the room before deciding if
3:03 pm
he wants to be aggressive or take a more measured approach, but whatever approach he takes should look familiar. >> donald trump's not going to reinvent himself. hillary clinton is going through this like hillary clinton doesn't know who she is. she's got to stand there, she's going through this, they're doing psychological profiling. donald trump is going to come out there and be donald trump and if you believe in what he believes in, vote for him and if you don't, don't. and boy, isn't that refreshing? >> reporter: we expect donald trump here in roanoke any minute, he's got a very big crowd, and if you want to know how much news a crowd this size at an event like this watches, a new minutes ago one of the event speakers -- so obviously a lot of them have seen the reports, questioning her health, and they
3:04 pm
are buying into that here in roanoke and they're letting everyone here in the press know they reallilike trump, they really do not like the democrat nominee. >> he said that hi accepts the nomination, but that doesn't -- meanwhile it's 51 hours to go until the televised event that maybe 100 million americans or more will be watching, i know you will be. fox will have complete debate coverage all day on monday. so we'll be previewing the debate at hofstra university on long island, of course it is at 9:00 p.m. eastern time. we hope to see you bill, at the rally, just bring some popcorn, that's the secret. meanwhile a massive mana hut under way in washington state.

police are searching for the gunman who entered a mall and opened fire, this is surveillance video, giving a glimpse of the suspect's face, now they just have to find him. dan springer is live outside the mall where the shooting happened. what's the latest there, dan? >> reporter: given the pictures that the police have and the circumstances, it's entirely possible that police know who the suspect is and they're just not sharing it yet with the media. the biggest question of all. last night at the cascade mall around 7:00. police say the lone gun marine walked into a macy's store, went up to the makeup counter and ban firing rifle. he killed four women and a man. a man got a picture of the suspect walking into the store carrying a rifle. police did recover a hunting

3:07 pm
hispanic. >> the protesters are demanding it. charlotte police chief in put numb county. this as hundreds of protesters continue to the streets. and a contractor released. as the police shooting. you can hear the officers during that video yelling at mr. scott to drop the gun. the family claims that putnam claims that she absolutely had a weapon. they'll be releasing the police evidence after this news conference. >> reporter: this comes after
3:08 pm
four days of really growing pressure out here on the streets from protesters to release that videotape. really in the next few hours, we expect to see images from the body camera and the police chief as well. the police chief has warned that the video is not conclusive, there's been widespread suspicion out on the street that the suspect may have something to hide in this case. the police saying they simply wanted to conclude the investigation before releasing this videotape. this comes just one day after the very emotional video released by the widow around the time that police fired those shots at her husband. there is there were concerns that that initial video has sparked even greater protests. that has not happened. in the first two nights of protests, the first two were violent, but the last two nights were peaceful. a group numbering up to 500
3:09 pm
protesters, right now they're planning again this evening, the last two nights have been peaceful, and the new question is whether this new video about to be released by police will spark new violence here or if the number of people will decrease on the streets of charlotte. >> the police saw marijuana which led to this event and there are questions now about whether mr. scott properly had the gun, because as you have said he had an aggravated assault in a shooting that landed him seven years in prison. there's a new report about how bombing suspect ahmad rahami may have placed explosives around new york city and new jersey. a bomb went on in new york's chelsea neighborhood injure two dozen people.
3:10 pm
rahami is still unconscious after he was wounded by two policemen. >> terror system ahmad rahami's car can be seen paying the toll in and out of manhattan the night of the bombing. but according to local abc 7, rahami rode a train into manhattan and placed the bombs into lower manhattan. now placing pipe bombs into backpacks. he then took the train into new jersey and then left the bombs at the station. this is alarming, given that it's true, it underscores -- rahami is currently hospitalized in new jersey recovering from gunshot wounds sustained during a police shoot-out. his condition is worse than previously stated. the fbi is waiting to question him. they are zeroing in rahami's
3:11 pm
frequent trips to afghanistan and pakistan. a source tells me that u.s. custom s and border patrol questioned rahami during a 13-month trip to pakistan and they alerted rahami follow an incident with him. this is important because it means the fbi was alerted twice about rahami, the second one in 2014, when rahami's father said that his son was a bad guy, and they should keep an eye on him, somebody that had a habit of watching taliban videos. he said that rahami wanted to be a martyr. rahami's wife and his family are not considered suspects. police are still looking for these two unknown men. by the way they picked up that
3:12 pm
second pressure cooker bomb, they took it out and walked away with the luggage, police say they just want to retrieve that bag. president obama has vetoed a controversial 9/11 related bill. and that's now set him up for a showdown with congress. that bill would allow the families of 9/11 victims to sue saudi arabia. if that country is found legally liable for the attack. the white house says such legislation could open our country to similar lawsuits and possibly endanger american diplomats abroad. chuck schumer who co-sponsored the bill, reacted to president obama's vito of it. he said this is a disappointing decision that will be swiftly and soundly defeated in congress, i believe the congress will coming to next week, the families of is victims of 9/11 deserve their day in court and
3:13 pm
justice for those families shouldn't be thrown overboard because of president obama's vito. we are awaiting the start of donald trump's rally in roanoke, virginia. mr. donald trump choosing to campaign right up into the big debate with hillary clinton, monday, two days away, meanwhile mrs. clinton decided to stay home and prep for the debate. so who made the better decision, or does it even matter? we're going to look at what each candidate has to do to have a standout performance. >> did you ever think you would see this? ted cruz backing donald trump. after what he said about his wife, about what he said about his father, about what cruz said about donald trump? we'll have ted cruz here talking about that surprising endorsement that people are
3:14 pm
talking about today. >> that pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack heidi, that i'm going to nonetheless come like a serve vile puppy dog and they thank you very much form ffor mall lining my wife and mall lining my father. redid you say 97?97! yes. you know, that reminds me of geico's

to find a way not to nominate him. >> if you love your country and love your children as much as i know that you do, stand and speak your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to be faithful to the constitution. >> that was ted cruz, not giving his endorsement to the republican nominee during the convention. now he's making a dramatic about face. he has endorsed trump. he did so not in a news conference or heralded an announced. after many months of careful consideration i will vote for nominee donald trump. i made this decision for two reasons. first, last year i promised to support the republican nominee and i intend to keep my word. and even though i have had areas of disagreement with our

nominee, by any measure hillary clinton is so much worse. >> man, oh, man, you know the old staying, politics make strange bedfellows. what is it? >> it goes into, he signed a pledge and so did all the other candidates and i'm very happy that he's following that pledge and calling on all the other republican candidates to do the same. >> senator mike lee was mentioned by your candidate, and lee and cruz are very close. >> cruz again is following the pledge he signed and 90% of the republican party is not behind donald trump and it's going up, so senator cruz is doing the smart thing, and in texas, we're up by an average of 10 points, so he's listening to the voters nationally as well as his own state and coming out and supporting donald trump just
3:21 pm
like every republican should and every candidate who were in the primaries should. >> you think this is mr. cruz doing it for mr. cruz? he's looking to 2020 and maybe he's actually do it for himself, you have had to drag him kicking and screaming for him to do this. >> it's a good move for him, good move for our party, we're united behind donald trump. he made a mistake during the convention. and now he's trying to make it right. >> wasn't it rude during the convention? >> i think it was a mistake. >> the stuff between the two have been just unbelievable. donald trump questioned whether he could be president, qualified because he was born in canada. and heidi cruz, lying ted, remember that in but i'm going to show you what cruz has talked about him before, called him a
3:22 pm
pathological liar, saying he's usler liz immoral. he said if trump does win, this country could well plunge into the abyss. boris, can you understand why people are cynical about politicians? >> it was a tough primary. there's been tough primaries in the past. h.w. bush versus reagan in 1980 was a very tough primary. >> to mccain-bush primary was very tough, very tough and very heated. but unlike the democrat party, we republicans, we come together, we come together behind our nominee. and that's what we're doing here because he is the right person to be president. >> bernie sanders is out there, sanders has been out there trying to get his people behind hillary clinton. >> because bernie's people, those people who donated $26, $27 a pop, they are very
3:23 pm
disappointed by where this country is, and hillary clinton paid off by wall street doesn't actually represent them. donald trump is doing well in ohio, pennsylvania, florida. >> bernie sanders kids aren't going to go for donald trump. do you think this endorsement by cruz will actually sway them or they may sit on their hands come election day? >> if you look at how mr. trump did in the south, he won with evangelicals all over the country, so the premise that he didn't do well with them is wrong. he won their votes during the primaries. but i agree on the sanders support. there's a lot of those disaffected voters, the coal miners, the jobs that hillary clinton said would never come back, donald trump is giving them hope. he's talking about the trade
3:24 pm
deals. >> you had cruz not going for donald trump, rick santorum is going for a coalition. so there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, but you do have a coalescens of former pri rivals. >> as has to happen for a party to be successful. donald trump has done a great job with the rnc, a great job with the republican party, and now those parties are coming to coalesce around donald trump. >> they got 45 days and we'll see what happens. sunday morning futures, with maria bartiromo, 10:00 a.m. on the fox news channel and i'm sure they will take this up. >> we'll be watching marlia for

we're going to take on the big donors, and big business and big media, we're going to take on a rigged system that has shipped america's wealth to other countries and they keep doing so. we're going to replace our failed and corrupt establishment with a government that serves you, your family, and your country. my economic agenda can be summed up in some very, very powerful words. jobs, jobs, jobs. we will cut taxes for all working and middle class households in america. we will reduce regulations, which will put more money into the hands of our poorest workers and bring thousands of new companies to our shores. we will unleash american energy, creating millions of new jobs
3:31 pm
and lowering energy costs for everyone. we will repeal and replace obama care. president obama promised his plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 a year. instead they have turned into $5,000 a year more. that's true. it includes expanded access to health savings account, with support for those who need it. it includes allowing americans in all 50 states. a dynamic and competitive new market, they will be competing

in other words they tax us, but we don't tax them. not too good, and you know how that's been working folks, it's a one way ticket out of this country for our jobs and our money. shifting money away from workers to large corporations who have no borders. there's a reason the wall street donors are giving tens of millions of dollars to my opponent. hillary clinton is the voice for global special interests. i'm running to be the voice of the forgotten men and women of this country. believe me, they are forgotten. my opponent likes to say that for decades, she's been fighting for women, that she's been
3:34 pm
fighting for children. why then are 70 million american women and children living in poverty or on the brink of poverty in our country. why has she provided no relief for the million of americans in search of affordable, reliable, quality child care. for years, she's been doing this and she's done nothing. you know the old saying, watch what i do, not what i say. at the trump organization and in my campaign for president, women occupy some of the highest positions. i have employed thousands of women in my country, women of different backgrounds, women of many talents and just last week, joined by my daughter ivanka, hello, ivanka, i have laid out
3:35 pm
my child care. tax free child savings accounts. low income parents are given tax credits that they can put straight into those accounts and get a $500 per child for those savings accounts deposits. families can also deduct the cost of child care in their taxes a huge tax cut for the middle class. we also have, and as we have been doing, we have been talking a lot about improving education. my plan includes school choice for every single disadvantaged child in america. and we're going to get rid of and totally end common core. we're also going to bring down the cost of college, universities get massive federal funds, and huge tax breaks for their endowments, but then they don't spend those funds or those endowments on their students.
3:36 pm
i will work with congress to make sure these special federal benefits are not available unless universities begin to reduce tuition and student debt. it's too expensive. this will get -- this will get it, this will really do it. this is the problem and it's right smack in the middle of the source and reduce both the cost for students and the cost for taxpayers, our students are drowning in debt and we're going to fix it. women also, by the way, value security. they want a commander in chief that will defeat radical islamic terrorism, stop -- it's time. going on too long.
3:37 pm
it's now in 30 countries. started off in a little area. they left a big vacuum, hillary clinton and barack obama and now it's in 30 countries, maybe more than that. we want to stop the massive inflow of refugees, protect our borders. and we want to reduce the rising crime and violence in our cities. we will build a wall, i promise we will build the wall. we will build the wall.

suburbs, this must stop, this must change, and the people that are there now, your so-called leadership group, will never, ever change it, and that includes hillary, believe me. every change starts with a conversation. together, we will have this conversation. and we will make this change, 100%. the change will start immediately. here in virginia, we are going to end the war on american energy and on our miners. hillary clinton says she wants to put the miners out of work. clinton and kaine also want to shut down shale and shut down natural gas. what they have done is incredible. the clinton regulatory agenda
3:40 pm
will drive up electricity prices for virginia families, you know that, you're already seeing it. and it will cost the u.s. economy over $5 trillion. by the way, tim kaine less than a week after taking office in virginia proposed a $4 billion tax hike on your state. a $4 billion hike. including on people earning as little as $17,000 a year. one week in office, and he proposed a $4 billion tax hike. and he's not very popular. he won his election by a very, very close margin. when i heard who she picked, i said you know maybe that's bad for me, we're just about tied in virginia, and we haven't started advertising. and they're spending a fortune. she made the wrong pick. we are going to open up all

sources of american energies and bring jobs, wealth and cheaper electricity to virginia and all over the country. another major part of our agenda is safety. i believe every family in america is entitled to live in safety and in peace. today the nation just opened, the smithsonian national museum of american history, african-american art, it's really a beautiful place, i saw it the other day in going around washington and it looked beautiful and we're all very proud of it, i can tell you that. we congratulate and honor those involved with the project and recognize today the incredible contributions of the african-american community to this nation.
3:42 pm
african-americans have given so much to our nation, and sacrificed so much for this nation. many african-americans are succeeding so greatly in our country, and i will make sure their success is protected and supported. at the same time, too many african-americans have been left behind and trapped in poverty. i will fight to make sure every single african-american child in this country is fully included in the american dream. that includes the new civil rights issue of our time, school choice. democrats have run the inner cities for half a century or more and produced only more joblessness and more poverty, the jobs are leaving, the schools are failing, and crime is rising like never before.
3:43 pm
in the inner cities, so to those african-american and hispanic voters, i say vote for donald trump. what do you have to lose? i will fix it. i will fight harder for you than anyone has before. the policies of hillary clinton have brought only suffering in our inner cities. just like her bad judgment overseas unleashed suffering everywhere she went. she's got bad judgment. of course she got rich through it all. the clintons made another $60 million in gross income while she was secretary of state. think of that. worst of all, she put her public office up for sale and then bleached her e-mails and destroyed her iphones with a hammer.
3:44 pm
to try and cover up her tracks, following a congressional subpoena, figure that one out. there's a reason the hedge fund managers are donating to hillary clinton's campaign and not mine. everybody getting rich off the rigged system, and who wants really nothing but keeping it the same, they want to keep it just the same, and they're throwing their money at hillary clinton. i wonder why? my campaign is powered by my own money and by small dollar donations for everybody and all of our patriotic citizens. 90% of our donors are small dollar donations, and we're setting records for a republican party, records.
3:45 pm
every dollar helps us deliver your county, your country, your area, virginia, and i'll tell you what, it all essentially goes back to you, because we're just going to make it a better place where we keep our jobs and we bring new jobs in. our campaign is about breaking up the special interests monopoly in washington, d.c. we're trying to disrupt the collusion between the wealthy donors, the large corporations and the media executives. they're all part of the same political establishment. they go to the same restaurants, they attend the same conferences, they have the same friends and connections. they all support the same ideology of globalism, while

3:48 pm
potential. we turned empty lots into homes, offices and living memories for thousands of workers and their families. that's what i do, and that's what i will continue to do for our country, but on a very, very big scale, believe me, i want to go in, i want to go into our neglected neighborhoods, the failing schools, the forgotten stretches of this nation and -- i have made a living for years looking at unused spaces and imagining what they could be. it's been a great living. politicians look at blighted neighborhoods and offer only excuses and by the way, all they want is the vote, in the inner city in particular, give us your vote and then we'll see you in four years, they do nothing. i look at those same neighborhoods and offer
